Angular Versions and History

History of Angular

AngularJS is a JavaScript-based open-source front-end web framework developed and maintained by Google. It was first released in 2010 by Google engineer Misko Hevery and his team.

AngularJS was designed to make it easy for developers to build single-page applications (SPAs). It was based on the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural pattern and provided a declarative syntax for defining the components and behavior of an application. AngularJS was also designed to be extensible, so developers could easily create custom directives and add additional functionality to their applications.

Over the years, AngularJS has gained a lot of popularity and has become one of the most widely used JavaScript frameworks for building web applications. However, as the web and JavaScript ecosystem evolved, the AngularJS team realized that they needed to make significant changes to the framework in order to keep up with the changing needs of developers.

As a result, in 2016, the AngularJS team released a new version of the framework called Angular 2, which was a complete rewrite of the original AngularJS framework. Angular 2 introduced a number of new features and improvements, including a new component-based architecture, a new syntax, improved performance, and support for modern web standards.

Since then, the Angular team has released several new versions of the framework, including Angular 4, Angular 5, Angular 6, Angular 7, Angular 8, Angular 9, Angular 10, Angular 11, and Angular 12. The latest version of Angular is Angular 14, which was released in December 2022.
